Emmilou Daycare Lombok
At Emmilou Daycare, we believe in hands-on learning and creating memorable experiences for our children. Recently, we had the delightful opportunity to take our little ones on an outing to the beautiful Vanilla Farm Lombok. Located in Batu Layar, just 1.7 km from our daycare and 10 km south of Senggigi, this farm visit was an educational and fun-filled adventure for all.
Discovering the Wonders of Vanilla
Our outing began with a warm welcome from the friendly staff at Vanilla Farm Lombok. The children, full of excitement and curiosity, were eager to learn about the farm’s primary produce – vanilla. We embarked on a guided tour where the kids got to see vanilla plants up close. They learned about the growing process, from the initial planting to the meticulous pollination process required for vanilla beans to form.
The children were fascinated by the delicate nature of vanilla cultivation and enjoyed the sweet aroma that permeated the air. Our guide explained how vanilla is one of the most labor-intensive crops, requiring patience and careful handling, which made the kids appreciate their favorite vanilla-flavored treats even more!
Coffee Roasting Experience
Next on our itinerary was a visit to the farm’s coffee roasting area. Here, the children watched in awe as the green coffee beans were roasted to perfection. They learned about the different stages of coffee roasting and how it affects the flavor and aroma of the beans. The interactive demonstration allowed the kids to engage their senses – smelling the rich, earthy fragrance of freshly roasted coffee and feeling the warmth emanating from the roasting machine.
Culinary Creations: Salad Making
After our educational tour, it was time for some hands-on activities. The children got to channel their inner chefs by making their own salads. Using fresh ingredients provided by the farm, they learned to wash, chop, and mix vegetables. It was a joy to see their pride in creating a healthy dish from scratch, and it was a great way to encourage them to eat their greens!
Lunch at the Farm
Once our salads were prepared, we headed to a shaded picnic area to enjoy lunch. The children relished the fresh salads they made, alongside a delicious lunch prepared by the farm’s kitchen. Eating together in the beautiful surroundings of Vanilla Farm Lombok, with its lush greenery and serene ambiance, made the meal even more special.
Reflecting on a Day Well Spent
The outing to Vanilla Farm Lombok was a tremendous success, providing the children with a blend of education, hands-on learning, and fun. They left the farm with a deeper understanding of where some of their favorite flavors come from and an appreciation for nature’s bounty.
